Fifteen years later the repeating device would be used in the infamous "Endless Eight" arc of the popular anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, where it is justified in-universe as the characters being stuck in a time loop, although the anime's director, Tatsuya Ishihara, claims not to have been aware of The Spirit Cabinet before creating "Endless Eight".

But actually, The Spirit Cabinet was linked to “The Tommy Westphall Universe Hypothesis”.
