Have you seen The Ninth Gate? It has a blood face-painting scene with a French woman, and my mind lept straight to it.
Thanks Charity! Your comic shines.
Eric: I’ve seen it indeed. I’d see it again. That movie has something strange and appealing, a certain ironic mood perhaps. Plus, Frank Langella. I love horror stories about books. I like it when I’m told that the end of the world comes through the pages of a book.
Mr. Santapau, your “comics” are very wonderful. I’ve been reading them for a while now, though this is the first time I had left a comment. For some reason, your work evokes a poignant feeling to me, maybe because of the color palettes. Long story short, I love how much your work reads like a book, like a short novel of some sort. It’s as though the images are there to intensify the meaning of the words. Very lovely. Please keep up the good work.
(I especially love this one because of the mixture of innocence, seeming normalcy amidst unnaturallity and the sense of an impending doom. The contrast between the two are very flavorful.)
I mean three, lol. I wasn’t paying attention while i was typing.
I’m very pleased with how this part reads. Many thanks for your comments.
Those last few lines of the narrator’s are perfect. A great contrast to the scene, and they really help to illustrate what’s going on in his head while you show what’s happening around him.
